Fry me to the moon…- Full English breakfasts

October 19, 2009 by georgie · Leave a Comment

english-brekkieJust like a nice cup of mid-afternoon earl grey and coming second at Wimbledon (and, of course, taking it with natural good-grace), a Proper Fry-Up is quintessentially British.  Somehow, a bowl of economy bran flakes or a couple of soggy Weetabixes just don’t hold a torch to a Hearty Full English.

Living in central London, I am often tempted of a Saturday morning to slip into my local greasy spoon and order ‘the works’.  It is only the venue’s scant regard for basic hygiene which deters me (I don’t know about you, but sticky plastic tablecloths have always left me slightly sceptical).  However, with our fantastic new range of full English breakfasts, available at some of the UK’s top hotels, you can enjoy a fantastic Full English in truly luxurious surroundings- and with not a comedy-shaped ketchup bottle in sight…

Craz-E times…- dining experiences and cookery courses.

October 12, 2009 by georgie · Leave a Comment

cooking-food-stuffIt would be a fair assumption to make that, in America, bigger is often better.  If you have ever felt the burn whilst trying to polish off a mixed grill or force down the remainder of a Big Mac meal, then please avert your eyes- this blog post is not for the weak of heart or delicate of stomach.

Combine a meat patty stuffed to turgidity with its own fat, two rashers of bacon and a smattering of molten cheese- all contained within the trappings of a sweet doughnut- and you have the Craz-E burger.  Created by ‘accident’ by a restaurant chef who had run out of bread baps, the Craz-E burger is currently taking the States by storm.

Your singing days are numbered...Billy Bass!!

Much like wearing a velveteen suit to your wedding (as, indeed, my father did), Shell Suits, space hoppers and computerised virtual pets all seemed like A Good Idea at the Time.  Even the queen herself counts a mounted singing fish as a valued part of the Balmoral décor, thus demonstrating the case that even the Elect aren’t immune to an occasional bout of poor judgement. Manchester United gift ideas – celebrate in style!

Old Trafford

Supermarkets and Pharmacies have recently reported a bizarre but huge increase in tissue and handkerchief sales over the previous couple of weeks. Strangely enough, they’ve all been purchased by men.* What could be the reason for such extreme purchasing by your average British male? We at Buyagift like to think it’s the result of an ambitious collective cooking effort led by Jamie Oliver in an attempt to get your average male in the kitchen, only to be stumped by the lethal tear-jerking effect, that an onion has on the eye. Perhaps men have embraced their feminine side but found Sex In The City a little too much for the tear ducts. No. The truth is it’s coming to the end of the football season and, well, men just love their football.

Get your kicks in the air with Airkix indoor skydiving

March 27, 2009 by owen · Leave a Comment

BA is happy
Do you like the thought of skydiving but think that perhaps jumping 7000ft from a plane protected by what essentially is some string and a big sheet isn’t exactly a great idea?

Well fear not, for thanks to our friends at Airkix we can now feel the thrill, float in the air and feel the wind whistling past our cheeks, without ever having to step near a plane. B.A. Baracus would be pleased.

Indoor Skydiving Video

November 12, 2008 by charlotte · Leave a Comment

This man, let us call him Mr X, discovers the sensational thrill of Indoor Skydiving, niftily offering the same adrenaline rush as outdoor skydiving but removing the potential unpleasantries of rain and cold.

The instructor manhandling him is onhand to help Mr X get the most out of his experience, and they perform a nice two person twist at the end of the video too.

Mr X experiences the sensation of weightlessness and soars through the air in the specially constructed Airkix tunnel. He then returns home with his dvd and relives the experience again
