Calling all pirates! LEGOLAND special offer.

March 17, 2010 by Ian · Leave a Comment

Did I mentioned in a previous post that LEGOLAND are planning to break the world record for the most amount of pirates gathered in one place? Well, in order to get all you seadogs and swashbucklers down to the good ship LEGOLAND Windsor this Saturday, LEGOLAND are letting one child enter the park for free when an accompanying adult pays full price (£38.00).

But as it’s a Guinness World Record attempt there is a strict dress code. Pirate clothing to be worn must include all of the following:

1. pirate-themed top and bottoms;
2. a pirate accessory (either a sword, hook, parrot or jolly rodger flag);
3. a pirate hat or bandanna and;
4. an eye patch.

So, shiver some timbers and grab a few pieces of eight and get down to LEGOLAND Windsor this Saturday for some serious pirate action.

Or, for some handy info on how to speak like a pirate have a good look for through this.

PLEASE NOTE- this offer only applies to Saturday 20th March 2010.

LEGOLANDWe’ve all seen Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom swashbuckling across our screens in the Pirates of the Caribbean, but now it’s your chance, family and all, to have a go.

This March, LEGOLAND Windsor will open its doors to its very first dedicated pirate land, crammed full of excitement and fun. You can practice your sea and sword skills at the Pirate Training Camp or climb aboard LEGOLAND’s brand new pirate ship, the Jolly Rocker- capable of reaching 18 metres high! Or, if you have a taste for adventure then set sail on a watery voyage on the Pirate Falls Dynamite Drench- a guaranteed soaking!

If that’s not enough, on Saturday 20th March LEGOLAND will attempt to break the world record for the most amount of pirates gathered in one place. All visitors to the park are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite sea fiend, eye patches, wooden legs and all.

Whether you come as Captain Jack Sparrow or Captain Barbossa, your trip to LEGOLAND Windsor is guaranteed to be a day you’ll never forget.

Expressly for you…- Orient Express

Orient Expres coming out of forestWith all due respect to my local train network- which recently delivered me home to the open-armed fuzziness of my parents’ embrace (and a killer Sunday roast!)- but lengthy locomotive missions are not high up on my list of Favourite Things.  The fight for a seat, the cacophonous choir of tinny ringtones, the fact that you manage without fail to sit next to the person eating the smelliest sandwich in the WORLD- these are the little railway realities we could all do without. I’ve got the X Factor- All singing, all dancing.

man singing in studioAs I’m sure you already know, last weekend marked an excellent episode of the X Factor with not one but two world-class divas taking to the stage to show us just what they were made of.  And, chequered pasts and dodgy jackets aside, even the most cynical of us have to admit that they did a ruddy good job (further highlighted by plastic-clad demon-twins John and Edward Grimes’ raucous rendition of ‘Oops! I did it again’).

In fact, so moved was I whilst vegetating in front of the tellybox, I decided upon a career change there and then.  However, before packing up the contents of my desk and making for the Hollywood Hills, I might need to call in a few favours courtesy of Buyagift…

"London...you're booked!"

Having recently been annexed by Anthony Gormely and his merry band of attention-seekers, Trafalgar Square’s fourth plinth is allowing select members of the general public the chance to ‘represent themselves’ in an hour long shift atop the stone podium.  Without wishing to appear too cynical, it is only understandable that, with a cast of over 2,400, ‘quality’ is going to be compromised somewhere along the line- when I went along a few weeks ago, I was met by the sight of a man wrapped in toilet paper, shuffling around on all fours whilst texting on his Blackberry like a technologically-aware Andrex puppy. Revellers beware- you’re in for a scare…- Halloween Theme Park tickets.

It’s officially That Time of Year again.  The time when children are allowed to delve a little too far into the dressing-up box and are forgiven for demanding sweets from their seniors with scant regard for their ‘p’s’ and ‘q’s’.  So dig out your old witch’s mask and fish out those face-paints, because Halloween is coming to town and a casual dress code is not an option… Read more

Fancy a cup of tea...anyone?

We’ve all had our fair share of unusual dinner guests. Whether it’s the Uncle with the worst manners known to man or the Cousin who refuses to eat anything other than tinned tomatoes and bread, there are someone people who eat like…well, they eat like animals. However, I’m sure none of us have had a guest as unusual as one particular group of diners. Wildlife enthusiasts exploring the Arctic Island of Svalbard had their lunch interrupted recently – by a hungry Polar Bear!

Escape the everyday with an afternoon tea at a Radisson hotel.

afternoon-teaWe’ll be honest – the majority of the staff here at Buyagift don’t reside in palaces or stately homes. Granted, we’re not living in Dickensian-era squalor, but most of us are prone to leaky taps, broken microwaves and gaudy colour schemes. Put simply, when we sit down for a cup of tea, we’re not greeted by the aroma of delicious pastries and the sight of rolling hills – think more PG Tips and television screens. Read more
