Top 5 Valentine’s Day gifts: romantic things to do on Valentine’s Day
February 8, 2010 by Ian

Ahh, Valentine’s Day. Isn’t it bloomin’ romantic! The birds singing your favourite love songs, the throbbing cartoon hearts miraculously appearing from thin-air, the floating cherubs…errr, what?
Okay, not everyone’s Valentine’s Day is straight out of a Disney cartoon but that’s absolutely no excuse for not getting all romantic cometh the 14th February. But if you’re someone who loves romance but doesn’t know how to be romantic- a romantic dunce if you will- then take heed as this guide is certainly for you.
We begin…
1. Wine tasting
Wine: the drink of the Gods. Whether you’re taking in a bottle of South American Cabernet Sauvignon over a candle lit meal or enjoying a glass of French Sauvignon blanc in bed, wine is definitely the drink to have. This Valentine’s Day why not sample all the delights that wine has to offer with a wine tasting experience at Vinopolis? The sensuous aroma, the exotic flavours…it’s enough to get you all hot under the collar.
2. Romantic walks
Romantic walks are a wonderful way to spend some time with the one you love. Traditionally, a stroll through the local park or a countryside wander- hand in hand- would suffice. But why would you want to do that when you can partake in an adventure walk in the Lake District or- even better- gorge walking in Wales?! Okay, it’s going to leave you with a little less time for that romantic picnic you had planned, but it’s ten times more exciting!
3. Dinner
If you’re still struggling for gift ideas then you’re just not going to go wrong with dinner for two. A classic Valentine’s Day tradition that will never go out of date, there’s not much that comes close to a candle lit dinner. With a silly amount of locations available including some of London’s finest hotels, our Dinner for Two Gift Voucher offers a three course dinner with a complimentary glass of wine. Proof enough that food and love go together better than super glue and a trip to the hospital.
4. Spa Day
If romance is what you want then romance is what you’re going to get. And what could be more romantic than a spa day for two? Your special day will include: being massaged, relaxing in a Jacuzzi and lounging around in a steam room- all whilst covered in delightfully comfortable robes. If this isn’t enough to get the pheromones working on overtime then I don’t know what is.
5. Day out in London
London is indeed a very romantic place. Its charming allure has seen many of literature’s greatest romantics visit and inhabit its fair streets, seeking and finding passionate love. With this in mind, why not follow their lead and treat your loved one to a romance-fuelled day in our nation’s capital? A gentle stroll alongside the River Thames, a relaxing ascent to heady heights on the London Eye, or an enchanting dinner cruise set to a backdrop of breathtaking icons such as: the Palace of Westminster or the Major of London’s City Hall. And all shared with the person you adore. Ahhh Bless.
So there you have it, absolutely no excuses what-so-ever. This 14th February treat your lover to the best Valentine’s Day they’re ever had with one of our incredible Valentine’s Day gifts.
