Sale of the century: Elton sells Maserati- driving experiences.
January 14, 2010 by Ian

It’s no secret- celebrities like things fast. They live fast, they move fast and in some cases, they die fast. So, what happens when they want to go faster? Some turn to harder drugs, some turn to outlandish behaviour and, in rock legend Elton John’s case, some purchase a new set of steaming-hot wheels.
When you are as rich as Sir Elton, buying a shiny, fast sports car is as difficult as replacing a wig- which is not very difficult. These days, new and insanely quick Supercars are released more frequently than Katie Price has new boyfriends and if you’re a high ranking celebrity, consistently in the public eye, it’s important- no, essential- to have the finest Supercar that your vast fortune can buy. Now here comes the conundrum: there are only so many stunning vehicles you can fit in one aircraft hanger-like garage. Something has to give and one poor Supercar must go…but which one?
This terrifying predicament is, thankfully, only something that celebrities such as Elton have to face but at least he knew he had Auto Trader to help when the crucial time came. After deciding to flog his lovely Maserati Quattroporte, the Rocket Man turned to the champions of second-hand car advertisement to take care of matters. For a mere £39,995 the lucky purchaser will get their hands on a vehicle capable of reaching 62MPH in 5.4 seconds, with a built in entertainment system, picnic tables and- all important- curtains. Thank goodness for Auto Trader.
Most of us won’t have £40k kicking around for such a purchase but this shouldn’t stop you from getting behind a Supercar. Get on over to our driving days section and pick out a Supercar driving day that suits you. Not a bad alternative I’m sure you’ll agree.
