Sporting Easter days out at Ripley’s London!

April 9, 2009 by owen · Leave a Comment

Over Easter Ripley’s Believe It or Not! London is going sports mad (it’s pretty mad anyway but it’s going to be a particular type of madness over Easter). To get you in the mood for London 2012 you’ll be able to view 18 different Olympic torches.

But that’s not all, London’s oddest museum is going to play host to the world’s smallest body builder for the entire two weeks over Easter. Romeo Dev is only 2′9″ but don’t let his diminutive size fool you, he can seriously pump some iron.

Check out the video above of Romeo at Ripleys Believe It or Not! London or buy some Ripleys Believe It or Not! tickets for the perfect sporting Easter day out.

Get your kicks in the air with Airkix indoor skydiving

BA is happy
Do you like the thought of skydiving but think that perhaps jumping 7000ft from a plane protected by what essentially is some string and a big sheet isn’t exactly a great idea?

Well fear not, for thanks to our friends at Airkix we can now feel the thrill, float in the air and feel the wind whistling past our cheeks, without ever having to step near a plane. B.A. Baracus would be pleased.

Take yourself to the edge of terror and beyond with Saw: The Ride at Thorpe Park.

Jigsaw’s terrifying legacy lives on at Thorpe Park with this new roller-coaster based on the terrifying Saw movies.  Featuring a beyond-vertical 100ft drop, barrel rolls and a “headchopper effect” (which we’re all quite keen to find out about – though not first hand) Saw: The Ride is shaping up to be one of the UK’s most frightening roller-coasters.

Saw: The Ride opens for action on Saturday 14th March 2009 – make sure you’ve got your Thorpe Park tickets ready.  That is, of course, if you can face your fears and prove you’ve got the guts to ride…

This man, let us call him Mr X, discovers the sensational thrill of Indoor Skydiving, niftily offering the same adrenaline rush as outdoor skydiving but removing the potential unpleasantries of rain and cold.

The instructor manhandling him is onhand to help Mr X get the most out of his experience, and they perform a nice two person twist at the end of the video too.

Mr X experiences the sensation of weightlessness and soars through the air in the specially constructed Airkix tunnel. He then returns home with his dvd and relives the experience again

Ferrari F430 experience at Thruxton video

The Ferrari F430 is … well … it’s fast.

How fast?

Very fast.

The Ferrari F430 goes from 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds. That’s about the time it takes to draw a deep breath. It also has a top speed of 197mph. That’s almost two hundred miles an hour!

The video shows a Ferrari F430 being put through its paces at Thruxton. A Ferrari F430 experience gift is the perfect present for the person you know who wants a chance to drive a car that Jeremy Clarkson calls “just about the best car I’ve ever driven”.

Hot Air Balloon experience video

August 12, 2008 by Max · Leave a Comment

Ahhh…. drifting around in the skies in a hot air balloon. It’s flying without all the fuss and bother. Instead of a hastily reheated ‘meal ’ and being separated from the world around you you can relax and drink in the scenery (not to mention the champagne!) on a champagne balloon flight experience.

And if you’re looking for a romantic gift for your partner – an anniversary, perhaps, or maybe just because… – then a champagne balloon flight for two is the perfect gift.

Howsabout if you’re looking to pop the question? Well you don’t really want anyone else getting in the way do you? So (if you’re feeling really flush) an exclusive balloon flight with no-one in the basket apart from you, your partner and the pilot is the ultimate romantic balloon experience.

Segway Rally Racing Video

The Segway. Let’s be fair now: it’s a bit of a strange thing. A curious mixture of electric moped, skateboard and Transport-From-The-Future that is, in many countries, banned from both the road and the pavement.

Take a look at the video though and you’ll see where the Segway really excels. It seems that the Personal Transporter of the future is an absolute joy to drive (pilot? Captain? Who knows!?) off-road in a Segway rally race against your mates.

Although the top speed of about 12mph doesn’t sound like much it feels exhilarating because of the natural and instinctive controls (that’s gyroscopically-precision-detected controls to be precise) and the fact that you’ll be haring around some nifty off-road terrain.

Aerobatic flight experience video

August 11, 2008 by Max · Leave a Comment

Standard flying lessons are all very well and good but it takes ages to get to the good stuff. And by “good stuff” we mean looping the loop and flipping over and stall turns and all the other exciting things that you see them do in Top Gun and every film to ever feature a plane.

Take an aerobatic flight from Buyagift, however, and you’ll be looping those loops before you (and your lunch) knows it.
