I just wanted to quickly email you to say how much my boyfriend and I recently enjoyed our visit to the Cake Boy Boutique in Battersea Reach, London.

The service was fantastic and the food/cakes absolutely gorgeous.  We visited them and had the Champagne Afternoon Tea for two as I was celebrating my 30^th Birthday that day.

I think it’s fair to say there were one or two bumps in the road – not to mention the blimmin’ great wall of fog! – BUT there is a happy ending so read on…

Despite it being a bit of a murky day, I still held out hopes of a good thrash around my home track – Donnington, in a Ferarri 360 Modena for the Ferarri Thrill Experience my Girlfriend brought me for my birthday earlier this year. 11.30am, ready to go, checked my phone to find 3 missed calls, and a voicemail. Couldn’t be important… Could it?

“You have 1 new message… – Hi this is the Race School at Donnington phoning. I’m very sorry but we’re going to have to cancel your experience today. Can you give us a call back as soon as you get this?”

Arse.

Call round a few invited spectators to tell them its all off. Everyone cancelled but Dad – not answering house phone, mobile off. Typical of today’s aging generations… Called Donnington to get the beef, more appologies, and a promise of a new 12 month certificate in the post soon. Called Dad. Still no answer. He’s on his way already – he must be. So, off to Donnington we go!

Driving through thick fog, visibility down to 30m or so in places, the gates to the park loom in to view. And there’s dad, wrapped up warm, camera in hand ready for an exciting day, and lots of good long distance shots. Has someone not told him its foggy?

“Hi Dad, been trying to call you! Have you got your phone on you?”
“Yes”
“Is it on?”
“Errr… No.”
“My day’s been cancelled…”
“Why??”

And so it goes on…

But, a rubbish day soon turned around – Donnington has a motor museum, well worth a visit if you’re in the area. More F1 cars than you can shake a stick it – its always interesting to see how the sport and its vehicles have developed from the early 1900’s all the way through to cars that have been hurtling around tracks as recently as last season.

All the staff there are nice and friendly, and the café does a mean all-day breakfast!

Within the week Donnington have sent out a new certificate valid for the next 12 months. I’ll try and get something booked in for next summer – no chance of fog. I hope…

Patricia wrote in to tell us how happy she was with the Wedgwood Experience she got for her birthday.

Patricia and her husband had a great time looking around the factory and learning about the process of pot making and painting, they even got to have a go at making a pot themselves!

I was given a Wedgwood Experience as a birthday gift and my husband and I had a wonderful day.

We arrived at the Wedgwood Vistors Centre and were welcomed by a member of staff who took us to the cafe for coffee and shortbread. Afterwards we took an extremely interesting tour of the factory, and were able to talk to members of staff about their work, which highlighted the experience.

We visited the museum and saw demonstrations of various techniques before the gentleman who was to help us make our pots greeted us.

I would like to say that all the staff we dealt with were very helpful, clearly were very knowledgeable and contributed to our enjoyment of the day. I would recommend this to anybody.

When Sean’s girlfriend bought him an Audi R8 and Aston Martin thrill for Christmas she didn’t know she’d be introducing him to his true love.

He sent us a tale of his passion for the Audi R8, a superior supercar.

Perhaps he tried to drive his Audi off into the sunset at the end of the driving day, who knows? All we can say is that there was obviously a profound connection between Sean and the car.

My girlfriend bought me a wonderful AUDI R8 and ASTON MARTIN thrill at Prestwold hall from buyagift.co.uk as a christmas gift.

Booking the driving thrill around my hectic schedule was easy with the help of the customer services team. They sent me a letter with times, facilities, hotels nearby and directions, then rang me to ask if everything was ok.

The driving centre is easy to find and had excellent facilities, the instructors gave us our safety lesson and booking in was very easy, my practice laps in the bmw were great fun!

I opted for dvds of my drive in both cars, it’s great to look back at the dvd and see how much I am concentrating!

I was fastened in to the Aston Martin and off i went, careful at first but more confident with each lap, until i was taking the corners smoothly and hammering down the straights.

Next came the Audi R8… I climbed in and fell in love. I was more confident in the R8, and would advise anyone to take this out for a ride.

If you want to know what Han Solo felt like when putting the Millennium Falcon into hyperdrive, put your foot down to the floor in the R8, she corners smooth and fast.

I would definitely go back to Prestwold driving centre and do some more driving in different vehicles, there are a lot to choose from, so get down there and enjoy a great day out.

Mark was flying high with excitement after his sky diving experience – you could say he was as high as a kite… although, actually you couldn’t because he fell from higher in the sky than your garden-variety kite can fly.

Still giddy with the adrenaline pumping thrill of falling several hundred feet, Mark thoughtfully sent us his rather lovely action shots. Now that we’re done with the puns, here’s what Mark had to say for himself:

My buyagift sky diving experience was excellent!

My family must like me because they bought me an experience that involved me throwing myself out of a plane from 11,000 ft.

I had an unbelievable experience with pictures and a dvd to remind me of it for years to come. Everyone was really nice and helpful, and the weather was brilliant too!

And if you’re tempted by a skydiving experience (or parachute jump for that matter) but even the slightest bit worried about it here’s a shot of Mark safe and sound on the ground

Steve wrote in and told us all about the great day he spent at Warwick Castle recently, he sent us so many amazing pictures that we had trouble choosing one!

Steve has also imparted his considerable wisdom and given some really great tips about getting around at Windsor castle and what to expect from the exhibitions and walks.

After buying a bargain with buyagift, we spent the day at Warwick Castle. If you have never been to Warwick Castle then I would go and treat yourself to a day there as soon as possible, and with buyagift the prices are fantastic.

The castle history stretches back almost 1,100 years, and the stories of the castle you get from the staff are superbly told. We also visited the Ghosts Alive section where actors jump out – very funny and enjoyable but over too soon.

The birds of prey show was superb and probably my favourite part of the day, seeing such majestic birds fly around breathtaking castle grounds was simply stunning. If you take a walk I would advise comfy shoes, as there is a lot of ground to cover and there are over 530 steep steps to the walls, so best to be cautious and not take your children up if they cannot walk yet.

The jousting shows were great fun and I think they run 3 or 4 a day, so you have no excuse for missing it, but get there early as at the back you miss most of the action. Right next to the jousting is the Trebuchet, it’s apparently the biggest working trebuchet in the world, and we missed it twice – well, better luck next time for us.

We will definitely be going back soon and of course we will be buying the tickets from Buyagift.

My name is Harry Windsor I am seven years old and I live in Rugeley, Staffs.

My Mum and Dad got the tour of Manchester United as a surprise birthday gift and it was the best present that I have ever had.

I wanted to say thankyou, Buyagift, for making it possible for me to go and see where all my favourite players have their pre-match meeting with Sir Alex. I even got to sit in his chair too!

I recently went on a Tank Driving Day with my daughter and her partner. I had the best time ever.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome with a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

The afternoon was full of activities and all three of us had a wicked time, me driving the tank, armoured vehicles and quad bike and my daughter and her partner having rides on the tanks!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone, as there were all ages there and from what I could see, all of them were enjoying it.

“Wow!” was all we could say at the end of the day. We were all filthy dirty, but had big smiles on our faces!
