I had a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed my Ferrari and Aston Martin Driving Experience.

The day started with the safety brief which had just the right balance between safety info and how to get the best out of the experience. Our “professional” two laps of the circuit was supposed to be in a Subaru but our instructor asked if we would not mind using the Porche GT3. The day was just getting better and better.

The two laps wizzed by but with enough time to note the yellow and red cones.  As I was in a group of four I had enough time between events to absorb the experience and for my nerves to settle. My first car was the Ferrari 360 and boy did I really enjoy myself. The instructor was very friendly and good at explaining how to get the best out of the car. The power was awesome! Next came the Aston Martin Vantage. What a car!  Let me know when you plan to sell it!

Here at Buyagift we love a good review. So, when we received Mr Marc England’s superb review of our Performance Car Experience we had to share it:

I was given this by my wife as a birthday present as I am a motor sport fanatic. I was looking at buying a C4 or F355 but wanted to know which would be best for track use as well as every day driving. As the Performance Car Day has an excellent variety of cars, this was the perfect gift for me.

The day started with a short briefing by the safety staff and then we were put into 5 groups of 4 people. The way it worked is that each group takes one car, say the GT3 which we had first, you then get a quick introduction to the car by the diving instructor, basically telling about gear changes brakes and power, then you each go one by one in the car for 3-4 laps around the track with the instructor telling you the best line and when to brake and accelerate. After all 4 people in the group have been around then you swap to the next car. I personally thought this was a very good way to get maximum people around without long waits. In between driving the cars you are able to wait casually with family and friends in the paddock area, this also gets them involved in the day as well, there was lots of super cars around to look at all day.

The instructors were brilliant and I have to say must have nerves of steel, they certainly push you to get maximum speed around the track and give you a lot of confidence to drive these cars at quite extreme speeds. If you have never been in a car with 400 bhp and stops on a ten pence piece then this will give you the biggest smile ever, if however you do drive cars of this power then you will still have the biggest smile ever as you will drive these cars faster around the track than you would think possible, truly amazing. One thing I will say is take your first lap slowish and admire the inside of the cars. I didn’t and went nuts around the track grinning but after I couldn’t remember what the dials even looked like. Also, get someone else to drive you home as you will be too wired with adrenaline to drive safely yourself.

I would recommend this experience to anyone who has a driving licence, man or woman, truly unforgettable, I have asked my wife for the same present for Christmas.

Not to ‘strike’ a gloomy tone in this run up to December and all things festive… but for me the school football experience was a relatively dull affair. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the camaraderie… but being goalie you can understand my bitterness when it comes to that green field of dreams. Rather than pacing up front to steal victory (proudly punting a rather deflated ball through the back of a worn net) I stood cold and wet on the line, raising my head every few moments each time the whisper of anything remotely spherical came hurtling through the fog.

Surprisingly -or not as the case may be! – I didn’t carry it on…

However, it might have been an entirely different matter if my mum had done a little bit of shopping about on the Buyagift website. A lesson of Brazilian Football Skills is sure to have piqued my interest! Rather than hanging behind I would have been up chasing down the ball to victory, showing off my new found skills in the locker room with copious kick flicks and headers.

Alternatively, I could have started early! Introduce your youngest family member to a more constructive ‘dribbling’ and treat them to a Socatots Five Lesson Course. Suitable for children aged 2 months to 5 years, get in front of the competition and start them on their race to the Premiership.
