There comes a time in every person’s life when they are given the charming opportunity (or cruel burden, depending on your opinion) to get involved with cooking Christmas dinner. Having already suffered a few minor culinary setbacks, I was determined to prove cookery credentials, and so aided by my mother (who, unknown to me, had decided to spend the afternoon sneaking sips of mulled wine) I set about creating a luxurious festive feast. Unfortunately Bill Guffey, just like most other people, couldn’t quite afford the jet set lifestyle that permits the famous few to live out such dreams.
