Dad-shaped Christmas dilemma? SOLVED! – gifts for dads
October 9, 2009 by georgie · Leave a Comment
As is so often the way, things were so much easier When We Were Young- especially when it comes to festive gift buying. Up until the age of 13, I managed to palm my parents off with the various woollen abominations I had hastily knocked up at Knitting Club, whilst their thoughtful gifts for me commanded a good 90% of the space under the Christmas tree. However, all this changed upon starting my first part-time job at 14, when I was suddenly met with the realisation that, now I had enough ‘disposable income’, I would have to start forking out for Real Gifts.
It’s just another sign of the times…

Your singing days are numbered...Billy Bass!!
Much like wearing a velveteen suit to your wedding (as, indeed, my father did), Shell Suits, space hoppers and computerised virtual pets all seemed like A Good Idea at the Time. Even the queen herself counts a mounted singing fish as a valued part of the Balmoral décor, thus demonstrating the case that even the Elect aren’t immune to an occasional bout of poor judgement. Create a great memory with a flying experience!

If there’s one thing we love here at Buyagift HQ (other than exciting experience days), it’s people who follow their passions, regardless of how crazy they may seem. 67 year-old Alan Shipp reached for the sky recently as he completed work on his very own aeroplane – built entirely in his garage. As the plane left the ground, Shipp, who spent an exhausting 11 years constructing his masterpiece, became the first man in Europe to single-handedly build a four-seater aircraft from scratch. Corporal loops through the air with a tea-time treat

Mind the tea!
If you thought your friends were loopy, you’ve obviously never met Cpl Stewart Hefti. The RAF serviceman recently took a wild ride with a difference, as he flew a record breaking 14 loop-the-loops in a stunt plane – all while drinking a cup of tea!
Cpl Hefti joined former Red Arrows team leader Andy Offer as he took to the skies at the RAF Museum Cosford for this unusual stunt. A true eccentric British feat, the recently injured soldier enjoyed a relaxing brew as he was treated to an exhilarating experience of aerial acrobatics. The most impressive (and probably the most fortunate) achievement of all though, was that Hefti managed not to spill any of his boiling hot cuppa as the plane tore through the air! Read more

Hot Air Balloon experience video

Ahhh…. drifting around in the skies in a hot air balloon. It’s flying without all the fuss and bother. Instead of a hastily reheated ‘meal ’ and being separated from the world around you you can relax and drink in the scenery (not to mention the champagne!) on a champagne balloon flight experience.
And if you’re looking for a romantic gift for your partner – an anniversary, perhaps, or maybe just because… – then a champagne balloon flight for two is the perfect gift.
Howsabout if you’re looking to pop the question? Well you don’t really want anyone else getting in the way do you? So (if you’re feeling really flush) an exclusive balloon flight with no-one in the basket apart from you, your partner and the pilot is the ultimate romantic balloon experience.
Aerobatic flight experience video

Standard flying lessons are all very well and good but it takes ages to get to the good stuff. And by “good stuff” we mean looping the loop and flipping over and stall turns and all the other exciting things that you see them do in Top Gun and every film to ever feature a plane.
Take an aerobatic flight from Buyagift, however, and you’ll be looping those loops before you (and your lunch) knows it.
