The Stig revealed… or is he?
June 22, 2009 by Max · Leave a Comment

The Stig is also known for disco dancing
Regular readers will know that we have something of an obsession with The Stig. Sunday’s edition of Top Gear, then, was something of a revelation.
For the first time in the history of Stig-dom the famous helmet was removed to reveal the identity of everyone’s favourite tamed racing driver. Who would it be? Would it be the previously rumoured Ben Collins? The back-from-the-dead Elvis Presley?
No. Underneath the helmet was none other than….
Father’s Day competition winner!
June 18, 2009 by Max · Leave a Comment
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner!
Our Father’s Day competition was drawn to a close on the stroke of midnight last night and we’ve been sorting through all the advice from Dads that poured in. There’s been some good, some bad, some strange, some very funny, some downright bizarre and a lot of people warned that they should never, ever, eat yellow snow. Thanks to everyone who entered: we all feel a little bit more wise after poring through the accumulated wisdom of the nation’s Dads.
There were so many good entries that the only way to judge the competition was to pull the name out of a hat. And by hat we mean a randomly selected name off our Giant Spreadsheet of Advice. And so our fabulous Father’s Day gift of a Single Seater Drive at Prestwold Hall goes to:
Cassidy Tucker of East Lothian
And the advice her Dad gave her?
“Don’t follow in my footsteps, I walk into walls!”
Congratulations Cassidy, we hope your Dad has a great time driving his single seater (and stays away from the walls!).

Time of life had as Guardian man goes Indoor Skydiving
June 15, 2009 by Max · Leave a Comment

"I'm a Times man myself..."
The Guardian today took a break from covering the latest interminable MP expense scandal to turn to far more pressing matters: just how much sky do you need in order to sky-dive? The surprising answer was: “Not much.”
We could have told them that!
Yes, they sent their man in the field to find out what all this Airkix indoor skydiving business was about. Turns out that’s about an incredible amount of fun and also only about £49 if you take advantage of our special Father’s Day offer that gives you two sky-diving sessions for the price of one.
Their intrepid journo sent back his dispatches from the front-line and reported that ”for the best part of two minutes I am unnaturally hanging in space, having the time of my life”. That sounds about right to us!
You can read the full review here – if it sounds like something your Dad might like for a Father’s Day gift then pop on over to our Airkix Indoor Skydiving shop and book yourself a session!
Father’s Day Competition 2009
June 10, 2009 by Max · Leave a Comment

We’re very pleased to announce the Father’s Day 2009 competition from Buyagift. If you’d like the chance to win your Dad a Single Seater Driving Thrill – and you’d be barmy not to because Father’s Day falls on the same day as the British Grand Prix this year – then all you have to do is answer one simple question:
What’s the best advice your Father has ever given you?
On the other hand, if you are yourself a Father then perhaps you’d like to share with the world your best piece of sage wisdom to be handed down from generation to generation. We asked around the office here at Buyagift HQ and some of the best pieces of advice our Dads have given us include:
- You can talk to yourself, that’s OK. Just don’t answer back.
- If you’ve got a migraine then drink more cider (we’re not sure that that is actually good advice)
- If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
- Never tie your shoelaces in a revolving door
Has your Dad given you better advice than this collection of slightly questionable tips? Or perhaps you are a Father and you wish to share the benefit of your sage wisdom with the world at large. Either way you can share your advice by entering the Father’s Day competition here:
Closing date is 17th June so that gives you a week to get your entries to us! – go go go!
(We’ll be posting some of the advice we receive on our Buyagift Twitter feed so check there for updates – and don’t forget to check out our Fathers Day Gifts also!)
Fathers Day deal – 2 Silverstone Choice vouchers for £149
June 9, 2009 by Max · Leave a Comment
When it comes to supercars (unlike, say, bottles in the shower) it really is better to have two rather than one.
That’s why we’ve put together a frankly amazing deal for this Father’s Day. For only a smidge over the normal price of ONE Silverstone Choice Voucher you can, in actual fact, get TWO Silverstone choice vouchers!
Yes, for only £25 extra your Dad can take two bottles cars for a spin around the superb Silverstone track. That’s a whopping £100 off the normal price of two Silverstone choice vouchers.
That’s the chance to drive a Ferrari AND a Lotus or an Aston Martin AND a Single Seater or have a Rally Drive AND a Ferrari drive. Or combinations of two of the cars on offer you fancy. OR your Dad could take you along and you could each have a go on one of the amazing driving experiences on offer with the Silverstone Choice Voucher.
If your Dad is in to his cars at all (and remember: it’s the Grand Prix on Father’s Day) then this is an absolutely amazing pedal-to-the-metal Father’s Day Gift to be remembered oooh… at least until next year (when we promise to have an even more amazing special offer). Check out this amazing deal here:
Silverstone Choice Voucher for 2 Special Offer
If your Dad isn’t in to his cars we’ve got a whole selection of other amazing gifts and presents that will knock his cotton socks (last years Fathers Day gift) off – see them here: Fathers Day Gifts
Fathers Day Gift Guide – White Van Man Driving

Note obligatory "gun fingers" from passenger
The unabashed (and self-proclaimed) King of the Road: the White Van Man. Whether you’re pootling along a country lane or cruising down a highway there is only one fundamental constant in modern driving. At some point you are going to be cut up by a bloke driving a white van – and the chances are that he’ll enjoy doing it as well.
Now it’s time for you to get a feeling for what it’s like to be the King of the Road in a Ford Transit Sports Van (complete with go-faster stripes). It’s a souped-up version of the classic Ford Transit (so it probably won’t have “Clean me” written in grime on the side – a shame) that’ll have you tearing around the track at Prestwold Hall like it was the M5 on a Wednesday afternoon.
Only thing is we can’t promise that the van will actually be white. Sorry about that.
It’s the perfect gift for a Dad who’s always fancied himself as a bit of a Road Warrior – check out the full details here: White Van Man Driving Experience
We’ve also got a full range of Father’s Day gifts available (just in case your Dad prefers something a bit more classic!) – Fathers Day Gifts
